Nutrition for People With Pressure Ulcers

Your wounds and surgical incisions can heal more quickly and with fewer complications if you have proper nutrition. A balanced diet with the right calories, protein, vitamins, and minerals might not be enough to help your body heal. The treatment of pressure ulcers may require more nutrition.

Supporting healing with nutrition

Proper nutrition can make a difference in how well you heal; and the nutritional needs of people who have pressure ulcers are different:

  • Wound healing often requires additional calories, protein, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Drinking adequate fluids maintains vital blood volume, strengthening circulation to supply wound areas with nutrients and oxygen.
  • Creating collagen — an important component of skin and other tissue — is key to your body's repair process.

Juven: Two times per day

Drinking just two packets of Juven a day provides a nutritional boost to support building new tissue. You can simply mix Juven with water, or mix it with your favorite foods and beverages. Use Juven under medical supervision.

Juven has been clinically shown to begin to support building new tissue in as little as two weeks.1,2

A balanced diet should contain everything your body needs to repair tissue. If you are not sure your diet contains all of the necessary nutrients, ask your doctor, nurse, or dietitian about vitamins or minerals you might need.

You can simply mix Juven with water, or mix it with your favorite foods and beverages.
